Social Fair under the title «From self-help to a wide role in society»

On November, 5th 2009 in Dushanbe took place Central Asian social fair of self-help groups of the members of Ishenim network.
The Central-Asian network Ishenim was founded in 1998 by nongovernmental organizations of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan and under organizational support of ACT CA. The network foundation has been caused by the requirements to exchange experience and extract lessons in the sphere of development of self-help groups.
At the moment Ishenim network unites nongovernmental organizations from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan. Ishenim has an experience of regional work in the field of population mobilization (self-help model).
The main purpose of holding the fair was to demonstrate the development of local communities’ models of self-help as one of the approaches of Central Asian countries sustainable development.
The fair was aimed to assist for the improvement of cooperation between state, commercial structures and organizations of civil society in order to implement the country’s national development strategies by supporting self-help movements.
The participants also had an opportunity to obtain information about the history of self help movements in Central Asia and organizations that have been working in the sphere.
The participants of the fair included the representatives of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Also there were invited representatives of the Apparat (staff) of President of the РТ, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan Parliament deputies, as well as representatives of other state structures of Tajikistan, nongovernmental, international and donor organizations.
